Where does your donation go?
When you make a gift to the Seacoast Cancer Center you are ensuring the very best patient care available right here, on the Seacoast. Your gift makes sure that our team of competent, caring professionals is making care better every day. Thank you for investing in our patients as we continue to grow, enhance and strengthen the services provided to our Seacoast Cancer Center patients.
Seacoast Cancer Center patients receiving radiation or medical oncology treatment have access to free supportive and wellness services not typically covered by insurance. Supportive and wellness services provide inter-professional care beyond radiation and medical oncology treatment. Each year approximately 1,100 patients and their families have access to these services to improve their tolerance for treatment and quality of life.
These services include oncology social work, exercise programs, integrative therapies, nutrition counseling, rehab, and survivorship programs such as support groups and education. Oncology social work delivers approximately 1,200 visits annually. During these visits, specialized social workers provide counseling and stress reduction care to patients and their families through all phases of cancer while connecting patients to free integrative therapy. This year integrative therapies will provide more than 1,700 treatments, including clinical aromatherapy, guided imagery, pet visitation, Reiki, therapeutic massage and acupuncture. Patients report an average pain level decrease of 42% and stress level decrease of 64% following an integrative therapy session.
This breadth of service is proven to improve patient outcomes, lower pain and stress levels, and drastically improve quality of life. With donor support, the Seacoast Cancer Center will continue to enhance and strengthen services and care provided to our patients and their families during and after treatment, empowering them to focus on survivorship and life beyond cancer.
